Pricing and what's included

The questions most couples ask before they enquire, answered plainly.

How much does mandap hire cost in the UK?

On Compare The Mandap, starting prices run from £1,495 for a simple design up to around £7,995 for a grand, heavily floral installation. These are guide prices: your exact figure depends on your location, your exact requirements, how long the team is on site and the venue itself. Your quote confirms it.

What is included in a mandap hire package?

A package deal typically includes the ceremony furniture: bride and groom chairs, side chairs, kanyadan chairs, patlas, bajots, a havan kund and choris. At lower starting prices (up to about £2,500) the stage, stage carpet, aisleway decor, aisleway carpet and entrance archways are usually optional extras. Above that, packages usually include them too, depending on your location and requirements. Every quote lists each item, so you can compare like with like.

What furniture is included in mandap hire (bajots, patlas, choris, kanyadan chairs)?

In package deals the ceremony furniture is typically all included. A typical list is 2 bride and groom chairs, 2 side chairs, 2 kanyadan chairs, 2 patlas, 2 bajots, a havan kund with foil insert, 4 choris and 6 pedestals with Ganesh murtis. Carpets and the entrance gate are not part of this furniture list and are quoted separately. Quantities vary by design and venue, so check your quote.

What are bajots, patlas, choris and a havan kund?

These are the traditional ceremony items. Bajots are low wooden stools or tables that hold pooja items. Patlas are low wooden seats or platforms, also used for the pooja. Choris are the decorated pots, often stacked, placed at the mandap's corners. A havan kund is the vessel for the sacred fire, and kanyadan chairs are small chairs for the bride's parents. Names vary by community.

Does mandap hire include a stage?

Not always. For simpler, lower-priced designs the stage is normally an optional extra, because many couples already have a raised area or want a specific size. For designs priced above roughly £2,500 a stage is usually part of the package, depending on location. Tell us your venue and we'll confirm exactly what's in your price.

Are stage carpeting and steps included?

It follows the same pattern as the stage. At entry-level prices, stage carpet and steps are typically added as extras. At higher price points they are usually included. Because floor type, stage height and venue access vary, your quote will state precisely what carpeting and steps you are getting.

Are mandap entrance arches and walkway decorations included?

At starting prices around £1,495 to £2,495, entrance archways, aisleway decor and aisleway carpet are normally optional extras you add as needed. In larger packages they are usually included. If aisle styling matters to you, tick it in the package builder on any mandap page and we'll price it for your venue.

Are delivery, setup and dismantling included in the price?

A professional hire price normally covers delivery, installation and collection, but distance, venue access, parking, stairs and time-restricted venues can change the figure. That's why we show a starting price and confirm the total once we know your postcode and venue. Ask for it to be itemised so nothing is left vague.

Why do mandap hire prices vary so much?

Price reflects scale, the number of florals and finishing details, how long installation takes, how far the team travels, and whether a stage, carpets and aisle decor are included. Two mandaps that look similar in a photo can be very different packages. Comparing starting prices alongside what's included is the fair way to judge value.

Can I hire a mandap for under £2,000?

Yes. Our lowest starting price is £1,495 for clean, simple designs, with a couple of options at £1,995. At this level the stage, carpets, aisle decor and arches are usually optional extras, so the final price depends on what you add and where your venue is. It's a good option for smaller ceremonies and tighter budgets.

Design and customisation

Choosing the look, the flowers and the right size.

What is the difference between fresh and artificial flowers on a mandap?

Fresh flowers have natural scent and texture but are costlier, weather-sensitive and fixed to what's in season. Artificial flowers are reusable, consistent in colour, can be installed days ahead and handle warm halls or outdoor use well. Good artificial work looks convincing in photos. Ask which is used on the design you like, and the cost difference.

Can I customise the colours and flowers on my mandap?

Usually, yes, within limits. Many designs can have the colours of the florals changed to match your theme. Heavily structural designs, such as carved or crystal pieces, change less than drape-and-floral styles. Tell us your colour scheme in the enquiry and we'll say what's realistic and whether it affects the price.

What is the difference between a traditional and modern mandap?

A traditional mandap is typically carved or ornate, with pillars, gold tones and a strong religious feel. A modern mandap leans on clean lines, drapes, greenery, acrylic or sculptural floral frames. Neither is better. Traditional suits larger, formal ceremonies; modern often suits contemporary venues. You can filter by style on our mandaps page.

Can I see the actual mandap before booking?

Photos on our site are real examples of installations, but each setup is adapted to its venue. Many suppliers can share more photos of the exact design, and some offer a viewing at their warehouse or a showroom. Ask your adviser to arrange extra images or a viewing before you commit.

Can I use my own wedding stage with a hired mandap?

Often yes, and that's a common reason for choosing a lower starting price without the stage. Tell us the stage size, height and surface so the mandap is built to fit it safely. If your venue provides a stage, we'll check dimensions and access first.

What size mandap do I need for my wedding?

Think about how many people sit on the stage (couple, priest, parents), your guest count and the room. Compact designs suit intimate ceremonies; large and grand designs need more floor space and ceiling height. Each listing shows a size guide. Your adviser will check your venue measurements before confirming.

Venue and installation

Timings, space, outdoors and venue rules.

How long does it take to set up a mandap?

Simple designs can be installed in around one to two hours. Larger floral or carved installations with stage, carpets and aisle decor typically take several hours. Your supplier will give a time based on your design and venue, and the venue will tell you when access is allowed.

How long does it take to dismantle a mandap?

Usually shorter than installation, often one to three hours, depending on size and whether the venue needs to be cleared quickly after the ceremony or reception. Check your venue's finishing time and tell us in the enquiry so collection is planned properly.

How much space and ceiling height does a mandap need?

Round and pavilion designs need more floor space and height than simple frames. Most designs need at least about three metres of clear height, and taller or canopy styles need more. Always measure the room and share the ceiling height, any chandeliers and low beams. We will confirm fit before you book.

Can a mandap be installed outdoors?

Yes, in gardens and marquees as well as halls, but outdoors carries extra risk. The main ones are wind, rain, strong sun and soft or uneven ground. The usual solutions are a marquee or covered area, anchoring and weighting the structure, a level stage, weather-proof carpeting and an agreed indoor back-up. Tell us your site and we will plan around it.

What are the risks of an outdoor mandap and how are they managed?

The main risks are wind catching drapes and light structures, rain on florals, carpets and stages, strong sun wilting fresh flowers, and soft or sloping ground. Solutions include anchoring or weighting the mandap, choosing sturdier designs, a marquee or canopy cover, a level stage, protected carpets and heat-tolerant florals. A named indoor back-up and a weather decision time protect everyone. Your quote sets out what is planned for your site.

What happens if it rains or the weather turns bad at an outdoor wedding?

Agree a wet-weather plan before the day. Options are a marquee or gazebo over the ceremony, a covered terrace, or moving the ceremony indoors, with the mandap re-sited if needed. Set a decision time with your venue and supplier, usually the morning of the wedding, and ask who covers the extra setup time or cost. Strong wind can be a reason to move indoors even when it is dry, so ask what limits your supplier works to.

How do I protect flowers and decor in hot or wet weather?

Artificial flowers cope best with heat, wind and rain. Fresh flowers can wilt in strong sun or warm marquees, so they are best installed close to the ceremony and kept shaded. Shelter, shade, waterproof carpet or boards over wet grass, and keeping drapes secured all help. If you want fresh blooms outdoors, ask for a sturdy design and a plan for replacing anything damaged.

Can a mandap be installed the night before the wedding?

Often, if your venue allows it. Many couples prefer this to reduce stress and give time for finishing touches. Some venues only allow same-day access or have hall events the night before. Ask your venue first, then tell us so the installation time can be planned.

Are sacred fires (havan) permitted inside wedding venues?

Rules vary by venue and local fire safety requirements. Many venues allow a contained havan kund if arranged in advance, some require a fire-safety plan or specific setup, and some do not permit open flames at all. Ask your venue early and put their answer in writing before choosing your mandap and layout.

Who coordinates the mandap installation with the venue?

Your supplier normally liaises with the venue on access times, parking, load-in route and any rules. Tell us your venue's events manager contact in the enquiry and we'll pass it on. You should still confirm your own timings with the venue so everyone is working to the same plan.

Booking and availability

Lead times, deposits and what happens if plans change.

How far in advance should I book my mandap?

For peak months (roughly May to September) and popular Saturdays, booking nine to twelve months ahead is sensible. Off-peak dates are more flexible and last-minute bookings can sometimes be accommodated. If your date is soon, ask us anyway and we'll check availability quickly.

How much deposit is required to book a mandap?

Deposits vary by supplier, commonly a portion of the total secured when you confirm, with the balance due before the wedding. Your quote will state the exact deposit, payment dates and cancellation terms. Read these carefully and ask about anything unclear before paying.

Can I change my mandap design after booking?

Often you can, within reason, especially if there's plenty of time before the wedding and the new design is available. A change of design or add-ons may alter the price. Ask about the supplier's change policy before you book so you know your options.

What happens if I need to change my wedding date?

Policies differ. Many suppliers will move your booking to a new date if it's available, sometimes with notice requirements or a fee. If the new date is already taken, other terms may apply. Check the date-change terms in your quote and tell us as soon as plans shift.
