Hidden Costs of Mandap Hire to Check Before You Pay

A starting price is where a mandap quote begins, not where it ends. A mandap advertised from £1,995 may not include the stage. If you also want a raised platform, carpeting, an entrance arch and extra fresh flowers, your final quotation could be considerably higher. Here is what to check before you pay.

The extras that change the total

• Stage: a raised platform adds cost and changes sightlines and access for older guests
• Carpets: stage carpet and aisle carpet are often extra at lower prices
• Aisle decor and entrance arch: usually included on larger packages, extras on simpler ones
• More flowers: extra artificial or fresh flowers raise the price, fresh more than artificial
• Furniture: chairs, bajots, patlas and other items may or may not be included
• Delivery and travel: distance, parking and access can add cost
• Early or overnight setup: if your venue does not allow early access, extra crew or an overnight setup may be needed
• Removal: confirm that dismantling and collection are in the price
• VAT and venue fees: check whether the price is quoted with VAT and whether your venue charges for outside suppliers

Why location changes the price

The same mandap can cost more in London because of labour, parking, congestion and loading restrictions. Ask your supplier to explain any location charges.

How to avoid surprises

1. Ask for one written price covering the design, stage, carpets, aisle decor, arch, flowers, furniture, delivery, setup and removal.
2. Ask what is excluded and what each extra costs.
3. Ask for a package deal if you also need decor. It is often more cost efficient with one company.
4. Check your venue's access times before you confirm.

Our listings follow a simple rule: above £2,500, the stage, carpets, aisle decor and arches are usually included, and at or below it they are extras. See what is included in mandap hire and our price guide, then get an exact price.
